Headteacher, Craig Jansen, announces he is to leave Moseley School

Dear Parents/Carers,

I write to you as Chair of the Governing Body of Moseley School to bring you up to date with the sad news that our Headteacher, Mr Jansen will be leaving us at the end of the academic year to take up a promotion as Executive Headteacher of a teaching school in Yorkshire, close to his family.

I know many of you will have concerns at the prospect of a new Headteacher and a further period of change but is important for us all to remember that Moseley is a very different school from what it was when Mr Jansen was appointed. Our thanks must go to him for his strong leadership and to his leadership team and the staff as a whole for all their hard work and commitment that has brought about the necessary changes that have led to the many successful outcomes that we have witnessed over the past four years. There have been significant improvements in the standards of teaching, last summer saw the best set of examination results in the school’s history at both GCSE and A Level. This year Moseley School has been ranked within the top 20% of similar schools nationally for student attainment and achievement. Our students are making good progress relevant to their levels of entry and standards of behaviour in school have greatly improved. Moreover, we now have a new school building and the recent completion of the new Sports Hall has vastly improved the school’s sporting facilities.

The Governors have now met and procedures are already underway to appoint a new Headteacher with the responsibility to carry forward and further develop the good work that is already taking place in school. I would like to reassure all our parents/carers that the staff and Governors are fully committed to Moseley School and will strive to ensure that the school continues to achieve the successful outcomes that our students so richly deserve.

In the meantime our congratulations and our thanks go to Mr Jansen and although he will be greatly missed I am sure you join me in wishing him and his family every success for the future.
