Jasper Carrott Plaque

Where Does 250 Years Get You?

On June 16th 2015 Jasper Carrott unveiled a plaque at Moseley School to mark his 70th birthday. In attendance were three of his closest school friends; Bev Bevan, Tony Lewis and Phil Ackrill together with The Lord Mayor of Birmingham – Councillor Ray Hassall, members The Moseleians Association, the school and family members.

The event was filmed by both BBC and ITV News. Jasper said “Its 50 years since I was a pupil at Moseley so I thought it would be a great idea if four school friends and I returned to school to celebrate 250 collective years since we left – unfortunately only three have been able to join me today.”

Rock legend Bev Bevan and Jasper have remained close friends throughout the decades and are currently touring together with their “Stand up and Rock” concert. After the festivities were concluded the group headed up Moseley’s icon tower followed by an extended visit to the Moseleians Archive room where old photographs and copies of ‘The Moseleian’ from the late 1950’s were pored over.

Jasper and Bev last visited Moseley School together in 2003 as part of Moseley’s 80th anniversary celebrations. On that occasion they made a tour of the school accompanied by Joanne Malin for Central TV.
